Waiqar, The Undying, is a powerful undead and genius strategist born likely sometime after the 440's. He was once a renowned general from Al-Kalim, and fought against the Uthuk Y'llan in the First Darkness in the year 478 and beyond until his corruption made him turn bitter against his former compatriots. He betrayed his nation and his ideals in the year 515, when he tried and failed to steal Timmorran's creation, The Orb of the Sky. Since then he has terrorized all living beings from his fortress in the Mistlands.
In Games, Waiqar is often the faction leader or head unit of The Undead, commanding Reanimates, skeletal warriors, necromancers, and all matter of foul creatures. His tactics revolve around guerilla warfare, as well as a flexible army, as he can summon undead units to fight for him almost anywhere. In Battlelore, Runewars, and Runewars the Miniatures Game, Waiqar is a formidible unit, with those he commands focusing on their ability to shrug off mortal blows, summon reinforcements, and strike fear into the enemy.
A Brief History of Waiqar[]
Waiqar Sumarion and Timmoran Lokander were good and close friends, but during their fight against the Uthuk during the First Darkness, Waiqar was captured in the year of 485 and held in the Black Citidel of Llovar. The citidel was a place of such evil, that after rescuing the emaciated Waiqar after the Uthuk's defeat, Timmorran had every map to it's location in the Charg'r Wastes destroyed and ensured no records of the rescue existed.
After Waiqar's sescue, he became cold, distant, and critical of those around him and their mission. He became especially malign towards his former friend, Timmorran. He reluctantly returned to commanding his undyingly loyal unit of troops at Timmorran's request and his men's imploration. After his reinstatement, Waiqar lead the Ru Campaign to combat a minor Uthuk Warlord who had banded together what remained of the meager demonic forces, easily wiping out the Uthuk with his sound strategy and loyal troops.
The night of the great betrayal[]
At some point after the year 500 and the end of The First Darkness, Timmorran thought that it was unfair only few could draw magic from the Maelström and so created the orb of the sky, an object so powerful that it could give to anyone control over all magic without natural ability.
Waiqar believed that Timmorran had gone too far, taking the world's rules into his own hands. At least, that's what he claimed to his men, when he decided that the Orb would be best suited in his own hands. He laid siege to Timmorran's tower, giving the wizard precious little time to do what he needed to be done. Timmorran destroyed the orb, and gave the hundreds of thousands of shards in a magical container to his student, Lumii Tamar. Lumii escaped, and moments later Waiqar burst into the chamber, slaying Timmorran with his overwhelming rage.
That night, Waiqar wrested the only shard he could salvage from the cold hands of his dead companion. He swore an oath so vile and so black that all living beings who heard his cry that night perished instantly. His oath, to recover all of the shards, was more powerful than he knew given the shard he held. Since that day, even death itself has not stopped Waiqar, The Undying.
