Farrendon was the son of King Jerlon Penacor and Queen Riya Penacor of the Old Kingdom of Talindon. As a child, Farrendon and his brother Farrengol showed every sign of becoming fine princes of the Penacor line.

While Farrendon was still young, his queen mother was banished from the realm for committing adultery with Rusticar Lorimor. This drew King Jerlon into a deep depression and he became known as the King of Grief. Despite neglect from his father during this time, Farrendon's growth into an upstanding young man continued.

His brother, Farrengol, was not so fortunate. Farrengol took to erratic and unlawful behavior as his father ignored him more and more. Eventually, Farrengol's crimes landed him in Nerekhall's prison, where the king authorized his execution. This only sunk King Jerlon into deeper grief.

King Jerlon died a lonely and miserable man, leaving the throne to Prince Farrendon. As king of Talindon, Farrendon shared none of his father’s frailties and displayed more of the robust spirit associated with the Penacor line.

This was well needed in the trials to come, as his brother rose from the dead and carried out raids on Talindon lands. He was now known as Lord Farrenghast the dread prince. It became King Farrendon's priority to manage the threat of his wretched undead brother, whose living corpse would endure far beyond Farrendon's own death.
