Dame Corinne Varr, a knight-captain of Pelgate Barony's army, fears that her barony will soon be tested, and takes what preparations she can to prepare her soldiers. Pelgate's Baroness Pryor grows old and has thus far ignored the dangers of the Ru Steppes. In frustration, Varr has begun to enlist aid from sellswords and mercenary mages traveling through Pelgate’s lands.
